Yes. That is my vaccine arm! After a very exciting day. (I took this selfie for my friend Mara, who is on Elba for the summer and who we will be going to visit in July and scuba dive (eeek so excited - we have never done that before and her husband is an instructor at a diving school there), because she had sent me a selfie of her and her arm after she got her vaccine)
1. I had an appointment to get my hairs did - which I always love
2. While I was there, I was looking out the window at my car, I just had a feeling that I should keep an eye on it in case it got hit because it was angle parking and people love to pull in from the wrong direction and in doing so nail parked cars. Sure enough an 81 year old man hit my car. I ran out, looking fabulous with foil in my hair, and had to stand in the street arguing with this very, very, very, should not be driving, old man. He was all, I didn't hit your car and I was all yes you did I have a video (lie). If I hadn't gone out there it would have been a hit and run. Granted my car is dumb and old and the damage was nothing - actually more to his car - but it is the principle. Thankfully it was color and not bleach on my hair - otherwise it would have melted for how long it took.
3. I was so excited about my vaccine. It has been slow and laborious in Italy - but in true Italian tradition, it seems impossible and a total shit show and then somehow, they pull it off / hail Mary it in the end. I got to my vaccine appointment 30 minutes early and it was such an efficient process. The doctor that I saw was all (waving an imaginary wand) you get Johnson and Johnson. I was thinking, 'WTF, I want Pfizer, I thought everyone was getting Pfizer now.' So as I am waiting to see monkey butler #2, who will ask the same questions as the questionnaire that I filled out and that the doctor asked, I was madly googling and I kept seeing J&J ONE DOSE, thinking, 'No way, we don't have that here, it's too advanced and we are so behind - we barely have wifi and I still can't belive that they aren't giving us the Sputnik vaccines.' And monkey butler #3 confirms that yes in fact I am getting J&J which is one dose. While I am waiting inline with everyone to get our shots - it was a bit creepy - Pfizer to the left - J&J to the right (yikes), everyone was comparing notes and asking how do they decide, I had asked but monkey butler #3 was very nebulous. Whatever, I got my ONE shot and I am done! And I had zero side effects. Now we just need to get Zaven vaccinated 2 July - Joe's 2nd Astra Zeneca is 18 June. And Avalon has been done forever.
We are so excited we are thinking about coming to LA, Palm Springs and San Diego for the December holidays. I miss Avalon tons - it will be two years in December. And this way Zaven could check out the Nickelodeon studios and we could catch up with friends.

Dog Beach Day! I had done some research on dog beaches, since dogs aren't allowed on most beaches in Italy and we love our high flying beach in Noli but def. no dogs allowed. Today is a holiday, forecast said cloudy at the beach and so we decided to go. So happy that we did. It was cloudy in the morning but ended up being sunny and hot.
Lula is so good - gentle and calm, but when she plays she is bonkers, she has no barometer to dial it down and be gentle with smaller dogs and puppies. Which freaks me out, she is playing but also potentially killing puppies by romping on them. You can see baby Cocker Kendall (above) trying to jump onto hound dog Dylan's bed (and she did almost drown him in the surf) - love all the American names - remember that Italians think it is insulting to give dogs Italian names so they give them American names and insult us. Thankfully some BIG dogs showed up and Lu could blitz and play without killing anyone. Dog owners are cool, although there seems to be a lot of tattoos - like if you have a dog you have to have a minimum of 17 tattoos. I didn't get that memo.
We drank beer, listened to the the waves (which is calming and lowers our heart rate) and had snooze-a-loos. It was a pretty awesome day.
