Prosecco in Roccaverano felt a bit normal. Joe’s 2nd vaccine – Astra Zeneca 18 June. My first 4 June – will be Pfizer so I will have my 2nd by 25 June (hopefully). And then Zaven can register from 2 June and our family is safe. I miss yoga classes. And I want to see people’s naked faces. Just see people’s faces, not in zoom calls. Honestly, don’t miss travel. I traveled so much for work for so much of my life and I dread the idea of having to fly again with a mask on for extended periods of time.

Lula visited the beach. She came from Chiavari, so I wondered if she would have a special affinity for the ocean. Meh. The walking path along the beach was very busy and she is always so happy to meet people who speak Italian to her (everyone except us) I can tell she just feels at home. Every now and then she will just whine a bit and I wonder if she sees or smells something that reminds her of her past life. The sky was moody and the waves were rough but it was nice to see something else.. Lula was a bit sad because I wouldn’t let her eat the tide of blue jelly fish things all over the beach. Her feet turned blue. I wanted to do some recon of beaches that allow dogs. We love our beach club in Noli but like most lidos they don’t allow dogs, so I feel like I have a good bead on a few dog beaches near us.

It’s Lula’s 5th birthday! I can’t imagine living without her for the last 4.5 years. Finally a pet who loves me. 21 May 21
What a lovely surprise. Maurizio, the person who would get me safely from home to the airport and back. At least once a week, for years, pre pandemic. Dropped by to say hi to us. I was so happy to see him.

Well hello cutie! One chicken neck treat coming up. Enjoying the garden, pre mosquito season. PS Zaven is hanging up laundry on the balcony, the laundry basket isn’t usually parked there, if you look close you can see half his face 😉 May 2021

What a beautiful morning for Omar’s yarhzeit. It’s been 5 years and for some reason this anniversary was more difficult. He died on May 7 in America – but for me it was the morning, sunrise in Israel, on 8 May. Also Avalon’s birthday (happy 32nd birthday to our baby boy). Lula and I went to visit his little tree, still very little, but were chased off by grunting wild pigs. Omar would have loved that. I miss you in the world dad. 8 May 2021
Happy May! My cast came off on Friday – they did an MRI and nothing was broke or fractured, it still hurts but I am happy to have it free and be able to write and hold a fork. Av has been fully vaccinated. Joe has had one jab and awaiting the message for the 2nd. I am hoping to be able to reserve my appointment for the vaccination in a few weeks. Zaven hopefully this summer. The retirement villa updates are slow but we are making progress. The million dollar retaining wall will kick off in about 10 days. The pool will not be complete this summer but we can start by getting the garden sorted and the hole dug. Regardless, there will be lots of projects to work on this summer. 3 May 2021
We hiked up to Rifugio SEV – which was the very first overnight rifugio stay we ever made, it was closed, but it was still nice to meet some cows and see the views of Lecco. Triangolo di Lariano 29 May 2021
