Joe’s early birthday trek Appenzell, Switzerland | 29 – 31 May 2025 We were so lucky to get a place at the Aescher Gasthaus am Berg. I wrote and said I would take anything any night that weekend. They wrote back and said we were lucky, we got the Hermit Hut. We took heaps of videos but no stills of the cute space. Such a special place to sleep. On a cliff and with a ginormous rock hanging over our heads. And having to walk about 10 minutes to the toilet. Arrival day about 2 hours straight up, next day 2 hours down, we took the gondola up to the Staubern Berggasthaus the second night and it was almost 3 hours out the last day. Appenzell is lovely – views of the Bodensee in Germany and Lichtenstein. Post Luzern Kappelbrucke Water Tower tour with the Swiss American Society of Luzern 24 May 2025 Lovely weekend in Luzern. Friday at the Sunset Bar in the lake with Adrian and Erin and other expat friends. Saturday, ‘blind’ tasting at Casa Tolone Ristorante organized for the Swiss American Society by Herb and Dawn. Pinot Noir from Italy, France, Switzerland and the US. Realized I don’t really know much about or like Pinot. Luzern, Switzerland | 16-18 May 2025Amazing day for a hike… back to the scene of the accident. Gondola(s) up to Musenalp. Gorgeous views and all the wild flowers. Fields of crocus and forget-me-nots. Maria-Rickenbach Monestary trail 10 May 2025 Yes, this is where I was laid out on ice with a broken femur in January 2024. The helecopter came up where Joe’s head is at. Lovely evening with Denis, Mignon and kids | 25 April 2025Last touches on the Villa. There are always things to do, and the work is something that we enjoy. Garden is in but the slugs are mighty. Brallo, Italia April 2025Loved having Zaven with us for Easter weekend! Wine tasting at Traversa 1816 Vineyard – just 15 minutes away. We tasted and chatted – an amazing afternoon and we will definitely be collaborating with them on the vine that we gift to our guests. We ate vegan, played cards and croquet, watched movies and caught up. More perfect if Avalon was with us. 19 – 21 April 2025Excited about the professional photos of the villa …coming soon! Springtime in Luzern & Sunday at the dog park | 6 April 2025 The pin / bolt on the left was the cause of the painSuccessful surgery to remove the rod and bolts from my leg. Femur was perfectly healed but I have had mystery pain on and off for no reason except that the gear that they put in me was too big for my body. The surgeon suspected that the very big bolt was hitting a nerve in my lower back. Day two and already off crutches – feeling optimistic about being pain free. 4 April 2025 | Nidwalden Spital HP Ignite – Barcelona March 2025Dewey and Regina came to visit! Luzern and then Italy 22 – 26 March 2025 Spring at the Villa. Still very cold but excited about the garden, learned a lot last year and hoping this year’s garden will be even better. Amazing host gift from Regina and Dewey and amazing guests – the bar has been raised. March 2025
