So grateful to Zaven for being with me when I had my accident and for Joe taking such amazing care of me post surgery – he is a patient saint and I couldn’t live without him.

Hospital bed views: I imagined that I could actually see where my incident happened up on the hill
Spital Nidenwald is the best hospital. Helicopter, emergency treatement (so happy that we managed to get my favorite hiking pants peeled off of me vs. having to cut them off), surgery, aftercare 4 nights, 5 days of amazing support. A little PTSD, I would hear the helicopters arrive and get anxious thinking someone else was injured 😮 . Also, loved the helicopter crew. Sadly, Zaven and Lula couldn’t ride with us – had to hike down and make their way to the hospital. More flowers from Zaven and Jane 💐

Looked for wheelchair accessible huttes/restaurants with sun – Gasthaus Schwand. It was nice to be out of the house, and bed, with gorgeous Alpen views and warm tea.

Weekend hikes with Lula – we always meet the nicest dogs and people | January 2024 | Luzern, Switzerland

Such a good train traveler. It was full with everyone headed to the mountains
Lula and I have been alone in Luzern (recovering from Covid. Me. Not her) and it has been grey and freezing. Swiss Winter strategy is to get above the clouds on the weekend. Lula has her own SBB Swiss annual train pass now and she is such an good traveler so the annual pass makes it even easier to get around. We trained from Luzern to Dallenwill. Walked about 20 minutes up the hill and caught the gondola up to Wirzweli. Then the luftbahn up to Gummenalp. We hiked back down to Wirzweli – it was sunny and gorgeous and Lu could run and run in the snow. We stopped and had fries and beer before taking the gondola down to Dallenwill and back to the crap grey freezing weather.

New Year’s Day hike(s) one with Joe and Lula who found a clay bed that the wild pigs love 😫 Lu loved it too 🙄 and then I did another loop to Puschera with Anne. Clocking over 20 kilometers 💪🏼 and winning night croquet with Joe and Erik! 2024 is starting off great

Beyond sad December holiday is at an end. It was probably the best vacation ever. Included everything I loved.
Crazy dump of snow before I head back to 🇨🇭 and E&E go back to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 – but can’t wait to be together again in June
